Spirit Orbs is the games main rare currency. This sections will be talking about how to get it.
Spirit Orbs can be earned by finishing a mission for the first time depending on star ranking: Max stars gives you 5 gems. Remember, you only get gems for beating the level for the first time.
The second way of getting Spirit Orbs is via Missions. Daily, Weekly and Free missions will grant you Spirit Orbs by completing a task. Its not a big reward but it makes trying to reach a 10x summon a lot faster.
The third way to get Spirit Orbs and the most grindy is maxing out characters via the skill tree: Maxing out characters in Brave Souls has become less frustrating. Crystal events are a great place to get crystals to max out you character. Use these events to max out your character to the fullest and don't forget to ascend to increase the max level of a character.
The gem rewards for maxing out the skill tree are (From descending star level):
Finally, the last and rarest way of getting Spirit Orbs is if there is a special event or maintenance, the developers might give free Orbs as a gift. But that is a very rare occasion.
Spirit Orbs: The Do's and Dont's
This will be about what you should and shouldn't buy with you spirit orbs so you don't make the same mistake I have.
The Do's: Spend gem on 10X Summons, Specifically event ones: Spending gems on the 10X event summon will not only give you 10 chances of getting the character you want but also increases the steps. Once you reach 5 steps or 10 steps, you will get a guarantee 5 star summon. Not only that, you will get bonus rewards like Hogyokus which I will talk about later.
The Dont's: - Accessories: NEVER EVER spend Orbs on accessories, there are accessory tickets to get accessories and it is a waste of Orbs. Hell you can get accessory drops in certain event levels.
- Skill Tree level ups: You can easily Grind crystals in the Crystal event for 5 star characters. If you are raising a 6 star, go do raid battles but ill go over it later.
- Single summons and Premium summon: They don't net you any bonuses and its a massive waste, saving for a 10x Event summon as stated before will net you rewards and increases steps.
Situational but not recommended for Beginners: - Refilling tickets: Some people may disagree and it depends on the situation. If you are trying to grind a 6 star for example it fine enough to spend a few orbs on tickets. 5 tickets is 1 orb, 25 tickets is 5 orbs and max is 10 orbs. 10 orbs takes 2 missions so that is why it is a situational one. Unless you are trying to grind a character for PVP, don't bother spending Orbs on tickets as playing side levels e.g. The Spirit society or Halloween society yields a chance of getting you 5 tickets and its a pretty high chance.
Brave Battles aka PVP
Brave battles is the PVP of the game. The characters are controlled by bots so its your job to power up your characters as much as possible so here is the best and recommended builds.
The Current meta (September 2020):
The Brave battles meta right now revolved around damage reduction and AOE. They also need the Poise and Flurry skill. Poise negating hit stun when hit and Flurry which increases normal attack hits. So you must have a character that not only hits like a truck but be tanky to take a lot of damage.
4 characters that are prevalent right now are Ichibe from the Blood War event summon, Kenpachi with Yachiru, CFYOW Nnoitora and Retsu Yachiru Unohana. If you have these characters its best to use them in Brave Battles since they are currently meta.
Attack, Special or Attribute
Attack: Prioritises strong attacks. Sp +30%
Special: Prioritises collecting soul bombs. Sta +10%
Attribute: Targets enemy attribute weakness e.g. Red beats Green. FCS +30%
I use Special since I can tank hits more and my character would prioritise on Souls Bombs if there is one on the field.
It depends on the situation but most people use Special since SP is awful and FCS is not really important.
Max out your character as much as possible
Doing so will give you a higher chance on winning and tanking more damage. If you need to, grind more crystals and raid characters.
Maxing out your character
So you got a 5 star character that peaked your interest, now to max it out.
Experience points: Kon's Bonanza is your best friend as it gives you a hell of a lot of xp and xp crystals. This is useful for increasing a character to max level and evolving your character faster.
Crystals: Kisuke's shop can net you so many crystals both for 5 star (vs Kisuke) and 6 stars (vs Yoruichi). Doing 5 ticket runs can net you even more crystals and it is a must to make grinding less frustrating.
5 grey star characters(For 6 stars): Character raid battles will always guarantee you a free 5 star character to be used to progress through the skill tree. These chapters are harder than the Kisuke and Kon events so make sure you have a good enough character for the job.
Tear Drops(For 6 stars): Kenpachi tear drop event is not like Kisuke where enemies will drop items every time you kill an enemy. The tears are given to you from time to time.
Evolution: You have gotten your character maxed out in both skill tree and level, now its time to evolve your character to a six star. In order to do that, you will need Hogyokus specifically 3 of them. You can earn them from a random drop in the crystal event run or via missions. Since you have been grinding crystals, you should have earned at least one or two. The Evolution will increase the star level from 5 star to 6 star.
P.S not all characters can evolve e.g. raid characters. Make you double check if you character can evolve via the wiki or the character album.
Hogyoku will Once you maxed out your 6 star to level 150, you would need 5 hogyoku wills to increase its level cap to 200. They are obtained via 10x summon events or through Co-op but it is rare like the hogyoku.
